The Sacrament of Baptism
Time and Day: Baptisms take place at St. Margaret Mary Parish on the first and third Sundays each month at 11:30 a.m. (with rare exception). As a matter of church practice, the Sacrament of Baptism should be celebrated on a Sunday since it is the day of Our Lord's Resurrection and new life.
Preparation: If this is the first time you are having one of your children baptized, you need to attend a 1-hour baptismal instruction prior to the day of the baptism. This instruction is waived for subsequent baptisms.
Registration: Simply call the parish office at 781-326-1071, Monday - Thursday from 9:30-4:00, and speak with any of the staff, who will take down the initial information for baptism and answer any questions you may have.
Godparents: According to church law, godparents are to be baptized and confirmed Catholics. Another Christian may stand as a Christian witness with a godparent and is listed as such in the baptismal record. If a godparent is not able to attend the baptism, someone else may stand in as proxy for them. St. Margaret Mary Parish does not require documentation for anyone to be a godparent as we trust people's honesty in this matter.
Fee: As a matter of church law, there is no fee for baptisms. However, a free will offering to the church is always welcome.
